The MOrth Part B Preparatory Course is a fully exam‑oriented, case‑based program, built specifically for candidates preparing for the MOrth Part B examination.
Over 20 intensive teaching days, you will work through 4 full cases per day, using complete patient records and structured oral-style questioning. From the very first session, the course mirrors the new MOrth Part B format, ensuring that your preparation is aligned with how you will actually be assessed in the exam.
Each teaching day is focused on:
- Diagnosis & Treatment Planning
- Longitudinal Care and Mechanics
The curriculum is organised to provide systematic coverage of 13 core clinical scenarios in a logical, progressive sequence.
Across these themes, you will repeatedly practise:
- Structured problem lists and treatment objectives
- Evidence‑based treatment planning
- Longitudinal mechanics and decision‑making
- Clear, concise communication in a structured oral format
A key feature of the course is a strong focus on anchorage control. You will develop a full understanding of anchorage preparation in three dimensions, and learn to select and use different anchorage reinforcement appliances within realistic clinical scenarios.
The course has consistently achieved a 98%+ pass rate, and has been fully updated to reflect the current MOrth Part B examination format. It is designed for orthodontists and postgraduate trainees who already have a solid theoretical foundation and are seeking high‑level, exam‑specific training to turn their knowledge into confident, structured performance on the day of the exam.
By the end of the course, you will be able to:
- Analyse MOrth Part B cases using a clear, structured problem list.
- Formulate evidence‑based treatment objectives and coherent treatment plans.
- Present cases confidently in a structured oral format, under exam‑like conditions.
- Manage Class I crowding & bimax cases with appropriate extraction and non‑extraction strategies.
- Plan and justify treatment options for Class II division 1 and Class II division 2 malocclusions.
- Assess and manage Class III cases, including growth‑related considerations.
- Indicate and plan growth modification appropriately within MOrth Part B expectations.
- Diagnose and manage impactions, with a clear understanding of timing and mechanics.
- Plan treatment for open bite and deep bite cases with sound vertical control.
- Select and sequence expansion appliances within comprehensive treatment plans.
- Decide on appropriate extraction patterns (including 6s and single lower incisor) and justify them in the exam.
- Design and explain distalisation mechanics safely and effectively.
- Recognise and manage dental anomalies and supernumeraries within realistic case scenarios.
- Plan anchorage preparation in three dimensions, tailored to each individual case.
- Choose and justify different anchorage reinforcement appliances in the context of mechanics and treatment goals.
- Demonstrate a consistent, logical approach to longitudinal care, from initial planning to finishing and retention.
